Since a tender age Ingrid Bugeja conveyed her artistic gift through drawings of the surroundings that came to her attention. She was born on the 23rd September 1982 in Malta, to her parents Joseph and Anna Mifsud. From early age she used to do drawings of cartoon characters from story books, paint creative images in watercolor on slabs of stone she used to find when her parents were constructed there new home in Mellieha and so on. |
At the age of 12 she followed a course at the Malta Society of Arts Manufacturers and Commerce, and at 13 during secondary education she opted Art at Sir Adrian Dingli Juniour Lyceum and got an excellent grade at O-level standard in 1998 under the tuition of famous watercolourist George Apap.
Between years 1998 and 2000 Bugeja persisted her studies in Art at A-level standard,at Junior College studying both History of Art and Practical workshops under lecturers and famous artists Ceaser Attard, Dr. Joseph Paul Cassar, and Isabelle Borg. At the same time she followed an Introductory course in Art conservation at the Malta Centre for Restoration at Bighi,Kalkara.There Bugeja got an appreciation of different aspects of art conservation such as Artistic Materials and Techniques, Line Drawing, Restoration, Architecture,Archeology,History of Art and others. Tutors included again Ceaser Attard, Lino Borg and others just to mention a few.
In the year 2000 Bugeja entered the University of Malta and followed a Bachelor in Education (B.Ed. Hons) course in Technical Design and Technology and eventually graduated as a Teacher. During her years at University Bugeja managed to develop her artistic and technological interest by attending extracurricular credits in History of Art,Web Authoring, Photoediting and others, some of which are resourceful aids to her art. These courses aided her to develop skills in photo editing, graphic and web design, and she also followed a course in Advanced web design at MCAST.
Bugeja hase been teaching Graphical Communication and Design & Technology at Stella Maris College in Gzira to Senior School students since 2004.
She is a member of the Malta Society of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce and has participated in several collective exhibitions organized by the Society itself, the Italian Cultural Institute, the School of Art,Valletta,and others.She is also a resident painter during the live show Sas-Sitta every Saturday on NET TV. She works at her art studio in the picturesque village of Mellieha where she also resides with her husband Mark Bugeja. |
